Fears being created in people on the fate of their properties once AP Land Titling Act, formulated by the Andhra Pradesh state government comes into force, is causing frustration among YCP leaders that it may hamper poll results.
As TDP and Jana Sena leaders are successfully explaining people on the evil effects of this Act, calling it `Land Grabbing Act’, suddenly Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Minister Botsa Sathyanarayana and govt. Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy is seen coming out in support of this act.
TDP and Jana Sena leaders warned that this Act will hamper people’s land rights and may facilitate ruling party leaders to encroach their lands indiscriminately. As attachment towards landed properties is more an issue of emotion and also related to ‘social dignity’, people are now fearing that if land title papers are not with them, how can they avoid misuse of such papers?
Initially, YCP leaders ignored criticisms towards this Act. They only realized very late that it is likely to damage their electoral prospects too. Then they swing into action for corrective measures. Instead of explaining the purpose of this legislation, they are simply attempting to shift the blame to the Narendra Modi-led Central Government.
Now, they are arguing they are only implementing the legislation brought by the Modi government. But, they were silent to the questions then why no other state, including BJP-rules state having such Act?
Many suspect evil designs behind Jagan’s government taking steps towards implementing this law on the spur of the moment. YCP leaders at ground level practically locked in confusion to answer people’s suspicions that how can they keep their land owning documents with the government?
Really, no matter how strong the law is, it is difficult for people to accept the feeling of not having their documents with them. But officials say that there is a different story behind Jagan’s government getting ready to implement this on such a whim.
Observers felt that Sajjala and others comments towards TDP and Jana Sena opposition to this document only reflected their frustration and inability to defend their own act.
