High Drama At Scrutiny Of Buggana, Other YCP Nominations

Scrutiny of nominations for Assembly and Parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh ended on Friday. The officials rejected the nominations filed by candidates of some minor parties including independents for various reasons. However, in many constituencies, there have been dramatic developments in the matter of scrutiny and approval of nominations.

Particularly in the case of nominations of YCP candidates, high-drama took place at several places. Returning officers practically ignored most of the complaints made by TDP candidates against YCP candidates. TDP leaders are alleging that there is pressure from the top level on returning officials.

In the Done constituency of Nandyala District, YSP Candidate and Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy’s nomination was accepted amid dramatic developments. On behalf of TDP candidate Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, his lawyers objected that assets were not disclosed in the affidavit.

With this, the returning officer Maheswara Reddy initially kept this nomination pending for 6 hours. But surprisingly approved later.  TDP leaders alleged high-level pressure behind this and said they will challenge before the Election Commission and also legally.

TDP candidate Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar complained that the affidavit filed by Ambati Muralikrishna, candidate of Ponnur YCC of Guntur district, did not reveal the details of assets of his wife and daughters. He also objected that the affidavit is invalid as the purview of the notary was limited to Guntur city.

He also said that there was objectionable diversion of Rs 2.50 crore  Dwcra groups funds to his own accounts, besides B-form was not submitted. However, the returning officer ignored all objections.

Election Returning Officer Suryanarayana Reddy said that the nomination of Amanchi Krishnamohan, the candidate of the Congress Party for Chiral Assembly Constituency of Bapatla District, has been kept pending. A decision will be taken on Saturday. It is said that the agent of a party said that there are arrears of his electricity bills, so the nomination has been kept pending.

In Gudivada, returning officer refused to take TDP complaint against YCP candidate Kodali Nani with regard to the use of Municipal Shopping Complex as his office. Likewise, TDP candidates’ objections were ignored by returning officers in Narsipatnam, Pendurthi and other places also.
