The AAP, on Thursday, alleged that there is a conspiracy to kill jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by denying him insulin and home-cooked food. Kejriwal is a diabetic patient.
Delhi Cabinet minister Atishi claimed that there was a “huge conspiracy” to kill Kejriwal and accused the Enforcement Directorate of lying about the chief minister’s diet.Her charge came hours after ED claimed before a court that Kejriwal is eating high sugar foods like mangoes and sweets every day despite having Type 2 diabetes to create grounds for medical bail.
The ED claimed before a Delhi court that Kejriwal, who has been arrested by the ED in the Delhi excise policy case, is eating food items containing high sugar like mangoes and sweets every day despite having type 2 diabetes to create grounds for medical bail.
The special judge for CBI and ED cases, Kaveri Baweja, directed the Tihar jail authorities to file a report in the matter, including Kejriwal’s diet chart, after the ED’s claims.
Reacting to ED’s allegations, Atishi said, “The BJP through its wing ED is trying to harm Kejriwal’s health. They are trying to stop the supply of home-cooked food to Kejriwal in jail. The ED lied in court and said that Kejriwal is having tea with sugar and eating sweets. This is a complete lie. Kejriwal is taking an artificial sweetener.”
Referring to ED’s accusation that Kejriwal is eating bananas, Atishi said “any doctor will tell you that diabetes patients are asked to carry bananas or any toffee or chocolate because a drop in sugar-level can be dangerous for life”.
“ED said he is eating aloo-puri. ED should be afraid of God for lying so much. He ate puri only on the first day of Navratri. All these lies are being spread by BJP and ED to stop the supply of home-cooked food to Kejriwal,” she alleged.
Atishi fears that once he is disallowed home food, it will not be known what Kejriwal is being fed in the jail and when. “Everyone knows Arvind Kejriwal is a patient of severe diabetes; he has been suffering for the past 30 years. To keep his sugar level under control he takes 54 units of insulin daily”, she added.
