Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a mega public rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, asserted that he will not bow in front of corrupt leaders. Sharing the stage with the new NDA ally RLD chief Jayat Chaudhary, indirectly referring to Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal’s arrest, he said some big corrupt people were put behind bars for carrying out corruption.
His comment comes moments after I.N.D.I.A bloc members concluded a big rally at Delhi Ramlila maidan to protest the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. PM Modi said it is his guarantee that whoever looted the people of the country, will have to return every single pie.
“I am not just probing the corrupt. It is my guarantee that whoever has looted the people of my country, I am returning the stolen wealth of my people back to them,” he asserted.
Modi recalled that in the last 10 years, the country has seen that we have started the fight against corruption. “We have ensured that no middleman can steal money from the poor. I am fighting against corruption, that is why the corrupt are behind bars today,” he added.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister also said that the upcoming elections are between NDA, which is fighting against corruption, and the other group, which is fighting to save the corrupt. “Modi’s mantra is ‘Bhrashtachar hatao’ and they say ‘Bhrashtacahri bachao’. This election is between the NDA, which is fighting against corruption, and the other group, which is fighting to save the corrupt,” he said.
Stating that he is getting ready to govern the country for the consecutive third term after the elections, Modi said that his government has already started preparations for the third term. “We are making a roadmap for the coming five years. Work is going on rapidly on what major decisions we have to take in the first 100 days,” PM Modi said. “In the last 10 years, you have seen only a trailer of development, now we have to take the country much further,” he added.
The BJP has fielded Arun Govil from Meerut, the actor who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan in the 80s. The BJP also eyed Western UP with optimism to achieve its ambitious target of 370 seats on its own, despite facing setbacks in the last elections in the region. In 2014, the BJP secured 24 out of 27 seats in the region, which dwindled to 19 in 2019, with all eight seats going to the SP-BSP combined.
