Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy claims his record in pressing buttons to deliver money for various welfare schemes directly into beneficiary bank accounts. He is confident that this `bvutton pressing’ will deliver him votes in the forthcoming polls.
However, he has reportedly chosen to deceive people at a public meeting with `fake button pressing’ for the beneficiaries of EBC Nestham. A meeting was organized in Banaganapalle on Thursday for the third instalment of `button pressing’ for this scheme.
The government has given wide publicity claiming that they are depositing to the tune of Rs.629 crores into beneficiary accounts at this public meeting. For the chief minister’s family newspaper Rs 5 crore was spent on advertisements.
As a result, the beneficiaries hoped that the money would be deposited into their accounts as soon as Jagan pressed the button. But, he coldly told the beneficiaries it was a `fake button pressing’ for time-being. He said that he is only pressing the button now, and the money will come after another week.
The government has no money to give to the poor. But, they make generous allocations for themselves. The beneficiaries were shocked and disappointed with this announcement. Moreover, Jagan gave free advice not to read newspapers like Andhra Jyoti and Eenadu and channels during this week, as no money reached their bank accounts after the Chief Minister’s glorious `button pressing’.
The explanation given by the chief minister for pressing buttons without actual money transfer was due to election code, which is likely to be into effect in two or three days, with the possible election schedule to be announced by the Election Commission of India.
Meanwhile, CM Jagan said that 4,19,583 OBC sisters are being self-reliant through the EBC Nestham scheme. In the last 58 months, the ruling party tried to mislead people by saying that 99 percent of the promises have been implemented. Moreover, they tried to scare the people that if he does not come to power again, all the schemes and all the money will stop.
Further, the officials moved the women, especially the women of Dwakra, to the CM’s public meeting in large numbers. However, the women faced serious difficulties due to the small size of the meeting place and lack of proper facilities. While the CM was speaking on one side, women started returning from the meeting. Unlike earlier practice, this time the police did not try to stop them from leaving the meeting witnessing their miserable condition.
Guntur police arrest TDP leader for a social media post
Guntur police arrested TDP leader Rambabu Pasumarthi, for his post in social media on the interview of Gothi Geetanjali Devi (29) after she received a house site under the state government’s scheme.
Geetanjali, a homemaker from Tenali in Guntur district, allegedly committed suicide by jumping under a running train at Tenali police station on March 7.
Meanwhile, Rambabu posted on his X handle that he was on way to Mangalagiri Police Station to appear before police for investigation. He said he was not served any notice.
The suicide of the Geetanjali, a resident of Tenali, triggered a political slugfest. Ruling party YSR Congress blamed TDP leaders for the suicide while the main opposition party alleged involvement of leaders of ruling party.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had ordered strict action against social media users for harassing Geetanjali. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh for Geetanjali’s family.
The woman was allegedly trolled on social media over an interview in which she praised YSRCP government on receiving a house site under Jagaanna Housing Scheme at an event on March 4.
Guntur SP Tushar Dudi had subsequently informed media persons that the police identified a few social media profiles, which are handled by actual owners.
The SP said as per inputs from the family members and as per the investigation report of the railways’ investigation officer, they will be registering a case in Tenali One Town. The relevant sections will be altered to 306 IPC, that is, abettment to suicide.
