Pawan Kalyan To Contest From Pithapuram

Jana Sena supremo Pawan Kalyan has finally revealed the constituency he will be contesting in the ensuing Assembly polls. Putting an end to various speculations, he announced that he is contesting from Pithapuram assembly seat of East Godavari district.

Speaking at the Jana Sena’s 11th anniversary meeting held at the Mangalagiri party office on Thursday, he said that he has no intention of contesting the Lok Sabha. He said that he has competed in Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka in the past and this time he is contesting in Peethapuram.

Pawan Kalyan reminded that in 2014 also there were appeals for him to contest from Pithapuram. Actually, he said he had planned to contest from Anantapur and also started the party office there. He said that he will contest from Pithapuram, the seat of Sakthi Peetham.

Though there are many suggestions to contest in the Lok Sabha elections, he said he wanted to remain as an MLA. However, he said he will clarify his stand on this issue very soon. He asserted he entered politics not for power, but to bring a change in the society.

He recalled that in the past he had started the Common Man Protection Force and that his agenda then and now is to stand by the common man. He revealed that the people who stood by the establishment of the Common Man Protection Force on that day became the pillars of Jana Sena.

He said that the Janasena party was started with 150 members and today the party has grown to the level of 6.50 lakh active members. Pawan made it clear that he has no personal grudge against YCP or Jagan except that he disagrees on policy matters.

He cautioned the ruling YSRCP leadership that their attitude of  “nobody else should live except us” cannot withstand democracy. He warned that if you trample us, we will trample you too.

Referring to various challenges he has been facing in leading a political party, Pawan Kalyan said that though he is a popular film star and a large number of people attend his public meetings, sadly those numbers are not translating into votes.

Stating that many friends are discoursing him to continue in politics in view of abusive language used by YSRCP leaders against him.  “I didn’t come into politics for you. I came for Sugali Preeti’s mother who was crying. This is my soil, this is my country and this is my community”, he asserted.
