If you drive with earphones in Andhra Pradesh, you will be fined Rs. 20,000. This campaign is getting viral on social media and many started to believe that they are true. The summary of the campaign is that the new rules will come into commencement on August 1st. This campaign created panic among vehicle riders as the amount is too high. The news was widely circulated on Whatsapp as well. However, it turned out to be false.
The AP transport commissioner has responded to the news and stated that the circular has no truth in it. However, he cautioned the riders that there will be fines of up to Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 for first-time offense of driving with earphones. The second-time offense fine will cost around Rs. 10K. He called up for accountability from the riders and be cautious when driving as most of the cases reported for accidents have ear phones as one of the reason.
