7 More New Airports Are Coming Up In AP

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to bring seven more new airports in Andhra Pradesh. The AP government has made plans for the construction of these airports in line with the growing needs. CM Chandrababu said that if the airports are made available as soon as possible, they will be useful for the development of the state.

To this end, CM Chandrababu conducted a review on the expansion, construction and construction of new airports in the state. Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and senior officials of the Airports Authority of India attended the review meeting conducted by the Chief Minister.

Presently, there are currently 7 airports in the state. Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kadapa, Rajahmundry and Gannavaram airports are managed by the Airports Authority of India. While Kurnool Airport is under the auspices of the state government, besides there is a private airstrip in Puttaparthi.

In addition to these, an international airport is under construction in Bhogapuram. However, the state government has decided to build 7 more airports in line with the growing needs of the state. Plans have been prepared to build new airports at Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Srikakulam, Tadepalligudem, Nagarjunasagar, Tuni-Annavaram and Ongole.

Kuppam Airport feasibility report has been prepared. A total of 1,250 acres of land has already been identified, including 683 acres in the first phase and 567 acres in the second phase.

However, officials say that since the IAF, HTL and Bangalore International Airport are located near this area, the airspace issue will also have to be taken into account. This will require NOC from the relevant parties. The Srikakulam Airport feasibility survey has been completed. It has been planned to be built on 1,383 acres in two phases. Land acquisition has already begun.

After TDP MP Ramamohan Naidu joined Narendra Modi cabinet as Civil Aviation Minister, he has been specially focusing on development of airports and also air connectivity in Andhra Pradesh. With his initiative only the construction of Bhogapuram Airport was fastened and its schedule of completion was pushed to an earlier date.
