40 Farmers Arrested with Attempt To Murder cases For obstructing Ethanol Factory

The Revanth Reddy government has filed a case of attempt to murder against farmers who protested against the pollution-emitting ethanol factory and sent them to jail. It is known that hundreds of farmers revolted on Wednesday after an ethanol company belonging to AP was carrying out construction work against public opinion in Pedda Dhanwada village of Rajoli mandal of Alampur constituency of Jogulamba Gadwal district.

On the complaint of Gayatri Ethanol Company CEO Manjunath, the police registered cases against 40 people on Thursday under 17 other sections, including attempt murder charge. 12 of them were sent to remand. However, it is controversial that the police also registered a case against Nagarkurnool sub-jailer Nagaraju, who is not related to this incident.

Sub-jailer Nagaraju of Pedda Dhanwada has a farm near the ethanol factory. The police, who considered him a farmer, registered a case. Since the incident on Wednesday night, the people of the respective villages have alleged that the police have been entering the villages and beating up all those they found and taking them away in DCMs and mini autos.

The family members of the arrested farmers allege that they were first taken to Rajoli police station and then to Manavapadu, Gattu and Aija police stations and tortured throughout the night. While the representatives of the company were trying to start the work of the ethanol factory in Pedda Dhanwada village for a week, a large number of farmers moved in on Wednesday and blocked the work.

Union Minister and State BJP President G Kishan Reddy strongly condemned the police attack and injury on farmers in the case of the ethanol factory to be set up near Dhanwada village. He expressed anger that the state government is inciting the police against farmers due to its inefficiency in solving problems.

He was furious that this was done the day after a police officer brutalized a farmer who had come to Khanapur in Nirmal district to voice his concerns. He warned that the people gave him power to provide effective governance and not to fight with the police at the instigation of the government.

He made it clear that in the case of the Pedda Dhanwada ethanol factory, the officials, farmers, local people and the company management should sit together and resolve the issues and move forward, otherwise it would be wrong to lathicharge farmers like this.
